Illuminated signage is a very broad-spectrum term. It basically describes a sign that can be lit up during the day or night.
The construction of the sign can be one of many ways. Either the entire face illuminates, just the lettering, individual letters, or could be a halo effect behind the sign.
As a general rule the most common illuminated sign is called a light box. As such it’s normally a fabricated aluminium casing, which is internally illuminated with either fluorescent lamps or the like. It then has an acrylic (Perspex) face in either, one or both sides, depending if it is required to be seen from one, or both directions. The signage is then applied to the face or faces. The signage can be either vinyl cut lettering or digitally printed. Other variations to this can be what is called a flexible or flex-face light box. As the name suggests, the face is of a flexible banner like material. This is generally used when an overly large face is required. In the case of individual lettering these are fabricated from acrylic and internally illuminated with either neon or predominantly LED’s. As the name implies the letters are individual items that are then attached to a wall etc. and in most cases the face and sides of the letter illuminate.
We fabricate all of our own light boxes to the specific need of the application, and these can then be powder coated in a variety of colours. All our light boxes leave our factory fully complete. The only requirement left to the customer is to get a licensed electrician to connect them to power.
