Digital Printing is one of the newest revolutions within the signage industry.
Digital printing is whereby virtually any design, colours, fading, and pictures or photos can be reproduced into a sign for outdoor or indoor use.
Essentially, it is done on a large format printer, where a roll of material is loaded into the machine and it prints a special ink onto the material. In lay-mans terms, it’s much like a desktop printer except specialised inks are used and the machine is fed by roll material and is much larger. So, basically if you can print it on a desktop printer we can print it much larger and for outdoor use.
Digital printers can print onto a wide variety of specialised products such as Vinyl Banner material, Self Adhesive Vinyl, Canvas, Transparency film, Fabrics and Papers.
Our Digital Printer is capable of printing to a width of 1330mm wide and an infinite length. It also has the capacity to print then cut around the printed item, thus crating profile cut decals.
We highly recommend the use of a UV protective film to be applied over the finished print for two reasons. Obviously as the name suggests it protects the life of the print from harmful UV rays which can cause premature fading. Secondly for surface scratching, and mild solvent protection. What must be remembered is, this is only an ink on the surface of a material, and is therefore susceptible to these problems. So addiment are we about this point, that no print leaves our business without this applied unless specifically instructed by the customer.
Digital printing has an approximate life of 3 to 5 years (outdoors) this is highly dependant on the application it has been used in. We can provide further information on the suitability of this type of signage once we discuss your requirements.
